4 Natural Ways to Increase Your Libido

Posted on February 18, 2015 in Sexual Health

A person's sex drive can fluctuate over the course of a lifetime. Many men and women report periods of time in which they felt their sex drive had diminished, flourished and then diminished again. Sexual dysfunction is often to blame in cases of decreased libido, particularly in men, but this is not always the case.

For many, a case of sexual dysfunction may not necessarily be present, but instead, a lowered libido can be attributed to other factors. Fortunately, these factors routinely involve lifestyle choices that can be altered–improving your sex drive.

Keep an eye on stress.
Stress and anxiety can play a significant role with a man's libido. If you are overly stressed or anxious, it can be difficult to maintain your usual sex drive. Many men turn to sexual intercourse to relieve this stress, but they may struggle to do so with a lowered libido. When a person is experiencing stress, his body becomes tense–muscles can be strained without realizing it, heart and blood vessels can become inflamed, and the nervous system can generate a “flight or fight” response. When these reactions occur, especially over an extended period of time, the male body will struggle to produce sperm and testosterone.

Take a good look at your lifestyle.
Chances are you've heard from your doctor, friends and family that use of tobacco products can result in serious, long-term health issues such as cancer and heart disease, but smoking can affect your libido as well. Smoking negatively affects the flow of blood to your organs because it causes blood vessels to narrow, and, of course, this includes those in sexual organs. Tobacco use also decreases your stamina not to mention lower your sperm count.

Practice moderation.
Alcohol, known as the “social lubricant,” is actually a depressant. Drinking in moderation should not affect a person's libido, but when the number of drinks starts to add up, you can expect a decreased sex drive. Practice moderation when consuming alcohol in order to keep your libido at its optimal level.

Increase your libido with super food.
Chances are this isn't the first time you've heard about food being linked to libido. Science is thoroughly backing up the claim with research and studies that have proven the link between food choices and libido. Check out these 5 super foods that increase your sex drive.
